Why "Latchkey"

Gen X were the latchkey kids: home alone after school, let ourselves in, figured it out. Now we hold the keys for everyone: our parents, our kids, our own accounts in a world built to trick us out of them. Latchkey Daily is the brief for the generation that holds the keys.

What we cover

Scams and how to stop them. Technology made usable, including what AI is actually good for. And the money, family, health and estate questions of the sandwich years. The through-line is the same: in a rapidly changing world, help you protect yourself and the people you look after, and make the new stuff understandable.

Who writes it

The rules

  • No fear without a fix. Every scam story ends with what to do.
  • Sources on every claim; corrections in the next issue and on the corrections page.
  • We pick before we link. How we make money.
  • Nothing condescending about age. If it would sound wrong said to a 48-year-old engineer, we cut it.
  • Real people on camera and in the byline. Where AI is used, and where it is not.
