Smishing

Smishing: Smishing is phishing by text message: a text that pretends to be a toll agency, delivery company or bank and links to a fake page that collects your details.

An example

"USPS: your package is on hold, confirm your address here." The link opens a copy of the carrier's site.

Why it matters to you

Texts are the fastest-growing scam channel because people trust them more than email. Turn on your phone's unknown-sender filter and never tap a link in a text you did not expect.
